2 Summer Student Positions:
  • Economic Development Researcher / Data Entry
  • Tourism Development Researcher / Coordinator

The Sault Ste. Marie Economic Development Corporation (SSMEDC) is currently seeking to hire for two summer student positions: Economic Development Researcher / Data Entry and Tourism Development Researcher / Coordinator.

The successful candidates will conduct market research to gather key economic and demographic data. This involves updating and developing documents and, ultimately, supporting the SSMEDC in the execution of its goals and objectives. The positions also involve assisting with various events and festivals, preparing and distributing marketing materials, and coordinating the development of promotional materials. These opportunities provide high-quality work experiences for students.

Summary of qualifications include:  

  • Post-secondary student enrolled to return to classes in September 2019
  • Demonstrated research skills
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Able to work with confidential information in accordance with the code of conduct
  • Positive attitudes and behaviours
  • Proven ability to work effectively, independently or within a collaborative team environment
  • Adaptability, critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Strong organizational and time management to meet and adjust priorities
  • Strong knowledge of the community
  • Proficient with computers and software such as Microsoft Office
